On-line Pre-enrollment is for students who are new to the Ventura Unified School District (VUSD) or for students previously enrolled in VUSD who are returning to VUSD after a gap in enrollment.

New Student Requirements

Kindergarten
2025-26 school year: Student enrolling for Kindergarten must be five years of age by September 1, 2025
Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
For the 2025-26 school year: Students enrolling for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) must be four years of age by September 1, 2025
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a bridge between preschool and Kindergarten that gives young learners a head start and provides them with an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is tailored to meet their academic and social-emotional needs.
Please complete online pre-enrollment and the questionnaire linked below and bring the questionnaire with you to your appointment at the school site after completing the enrollment process:

Jumpstart Preschool Program
Required Documents
Documentation varies by grade level and additional documentation may be required for specific programs (such as athletics, TK, GATE) or for individual circumstances (such as legal documents or health concerns). Verify with your school that documentation requirements have been met as the enrollment process cannot be completed with incomplete documentation. Documents should be brought to the school site when the enrollment process is finalized.
Required for ALL Students
* Verification of Student Birth: Original Birth Certificate, Passport or Baptismal Certificate/Affidavit

* Proofs of Residency: Two proofs of residency are required. Residency documents must be in the parent/guardian’s name and must be dated within 30 days. Our School(s) may ONLY enroll students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) reside within school boundaries (Education Code 48204). Residency verification is a parent responsibility and falsification of information provided will be grounds for immediate cancellation of enrollment. Please note that all residence verifications are subject to physical verifications by district personnel. If unable to provide proof of residency, contact Student Support Services. * Verification of Immunization: Each student enrolling for the first time in a district or secondary school, preschool, or child care and development program or, after July 1, 2017, enrolling or advancing to grade 7, shall present an immunization record from any authorized private or public health care provider, certifying that he/she has received all required immunization in accordance with law. Students shall be excluded from school or exempted from immunization requirements only as allowed by law.
* Parent/Guardian Driver's License or other Picture ID: Be prepared to show a government issued ID.
Required for Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, and/or 1st Grade

Additional Documents
* Guardianship/Caregivers Documents: Guardianship documents are needed if you are the guardian of the student being enrolled. If you do not have guardianship paperwork and are the caregiver for the student, you must complete a Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit. The Caregivers Authorization is available in the Student Support Services Department at the Education Service Center.
* Middle/High School Students: The most recent report card is helpful in determining placement for certain classes. Copy of transcripts (unofficial) required for grades 10-12.
* Legal/Court Documents: (if applicable): Legal Court Documents include Custody/Visitation arrangements, Restraining Orders, Foster Placement Documents. Please provide the original current court documents. Copies will be made for your student's file. Custody issues can only be enforced by the school if the custody documents are on file with the school.
* Special Education: If your student has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or 504 Plan, please submit the most recent copy with registration.
* GATE: Please present a copy of test results if your student has been identified as Gifted and Talented at a previous school.
* Indian Education: Your child may be eligible to enroll in the Title VI Indian Education Program if you, your child or his/her grandparent are an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe,
band or group or Alaskan Native tribe or corporation or if you, your child or a grandparent have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB).
To enroll, complete the attached Program Enrollment Request AND Eligibility Certification Form (ED 506). Return both documents to your school office, to the mailing or email address below. Be sure to include a tribal enrollment number or a copy of other evidence (CDIB, village or tribal ID, birth certificate, etc.) and the address of the organization maintaining membership.
